NEWS FROM YOU'RE SEW SPECIAL

Dear Readers,

I know my New Year's resolution was to update you more frequently than in the past.  I'm afraid that hasn't been possible.  It is with great sadness that I share with you that my husband of 38 years passed away suddenly on February 27 of a brain hemorrhage. I have taken several months off from running You're Sew Special to handle the overwhelming mountain of details and decisions, the emotional rollercoaster, and the loss.  With the unbelievable love and support and prayers of our friends and neighbors and our faith, our family has begun to move forward.

Enter your email address to receive updates about exciting new products, upcoming classes and You're Sew Special events.

God did brighten our lives with the arrival of my fourth grandchild on March 31.  This perfect little pink bundle of joy named Zoe Dale James is the daughter of my daughter and son-in-law who live in Columbus.  Zoe's big brother is Beckett, who was featured on my website last year playing with his “little fan” pillow.  I have been spending a lot of time in Columbus helping everyone get off to a good start.  Beckett loves his little sister and calls her "choee"!  Staying busy has really helped time pass.

I'm happy to report that I'm now back at the cutting table and busy making kits.

2010 BUCKEYE SEWING RETREAT

The Inn at Amish Door, Wilmot, OHPlans are very much underway for this year's retreat scheduled for October 22-24 at the Inn at Amish Door in Wilmot, OH in Amish Country (same location as last year).  I am again co-hosting the retreat with Sherry Monfort, owner of Calico Cupboard of Pataskala.  She has been hard at work handling calls and questions from everyone interested in attending.  A Registration Form is now available by clicking here.  If you are interested, please print out the form, fill it out, include a down payment for $100, and send it to me or drop it off at Sherry's shop.  We've had tremendous response so far, so please don't delay in returning your registration form.

Prices are:  $430 for single occupancy, $325 for double occupancy, and $275 for triple occupancy.  The Inn has breathtaking views of the countryside, a fitness room, indoor pool and hot tub, BIG conference room, and is a short drive from many of the great quilt shops in Berlin and other fun shops in the surrounding area.  All rooms have two queen-size beds. The Amish Door Village also includes a bakery, market, gift shop, and restaurant, and even a dinner theater.

The retreat package includes: 2 nights' stay (Friday and Saturday), Friday dinner, Saturday lunch and afternoon break, hearty continental breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings, registration and demonstration fees, all taxes and gratuities, and our usual prizes and surprises. Dinner Saturday evening is on your own. To register, click here to download and print a copy.

Retreat registration will begin at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 22. We will have a lot of new demonstrations and projects, and of course, Show and Tell. An agenda with more details will come later. In the event you would want to come a day early and stay Thursday evening too, I have also reserved a very few rooms for that night.  So line up those unfinished projects, grab a friend or plan to make new ones, and mark your calendar for this great getaway weekend.  Sherry and I look forward to seeing you there!

NEW PRODUCTS UPDATE

I had hoped to come out with an appliqué block kit to commemorate the Buckeyes' Rose Bowl win in January, but that project had to be postponed and ultimately scrapped as time passed.  I am still planning to launch a new Baby Announcement quilt pattern this summer that is sure to delight Buckeye fans, old and new alike!  Stay tuned!

I hope you've worked on lots of sewing projects, and even completed a few of them, during this cold and wet spring we've had.  The weather forecasters keep assuring us warm and dry weather is just around the corner.  I sure hope so.

Take care and Go Bucks!

ABOUT US

You're Sew Special"! designs, manufactures, and sells quilt kits and patterns.  Classes are offered for those who want to learn to quilt, appliqué, or just have fun using these kits.

You're Sew Special"! was established in 1998 to:

  • Promote machine sewing, quilting, and appliqué
  • Introduce a line of products that features popular university images
  • Encourage individuals to show and share their school spirit

"With our hectic lives and schedules, most sewers and quilters don't have time to buy fabric, assemble supplies, and read how-to books BEFORE they begin the project.  With our unique line of "Sew Little Time""! quilt and appliqué kits, all of those steps have been taken care of so you can sit down and start sewing.  Each kit also contains complete step-by-step instructions."

"If it's still hard to make time, classes are offered throughout the year in the Columbus area to help you set aside a few hours of fun for yourself.

University quilts and accessories can be:

  • A keepsake gift for that special graduate, soon-to-be graduate, or proud alumni
  • A perfect finishing touch to a den, office, game room, library or any room in your house
  • An executive or group gift to recognize outstanding achievement, service or retirement

Thanks for stopping by our website!
