2010 Buckeye Sewing
Retreat
Plans are very much underway for this year's retreat scheduled
for October 22-24 at the Inn at Amish
Door in Wilmot,
OH in Amish
Country (same location as last year). I am again co-hosting
the retreat with Sherry Monfort, owner of Calico
Cupboard of Pataskala. She
has been hard at work handling calls and questions from everyone
interested in attending. A Registration
Form is available by clicking here. If you are interested,
please print out the form, fill it out, include a down payment for
$100, and send it to me or drop it off at Sherry's shop. We've
had tremendous response so far, so please don't delay in returning
your registration form.
Prices are:
- $430 for single occupancy
- $325 for double occupancy,
and
- $275 for triple occupancy.
The Inn has breathtaking views
of the countryside, a fitness room, indoor pool and hot tub, BIG
conference room, and is a short drive from many of the great quilt
shops in Berlin and other fun shops in the surrounding area. All
rooms have two queen-size beds. The Amish Door Village also includes
a bakery, market, gift shop, and restaurant, and even a dinner
theater.
The retreat package includes: 2 nights' stay (Friday and
Saturday), Friday dinner, Saturday lunch and afternoon break, hearty
continental breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings, registration
and demonstration fees, all taxes and gratuities, and our usual
prizes and surprises. Dinner Saturday evening is on your own. To
register, click here to download and print a copy.
Retreat registration will begin at 12:00 noon on Friday, October
22. We will have a lot of new demonstrations and projects, and
of course, Show and Tell. An agenda with more details will come
later. In the event you would want to come a day early and stay
Thursday evening too, I have also reserved a very few rooms for
that night. So
line up those unfinished projects, grab a friend or plan to make
new ones, and mark your calendar for this great getaway weekend. Sherry
and I look forward to seeing you there!
2009 Buckeye Sewing Retreat
Date: August 28-30, 2009 (Friday–Sunday)
Place: The Inn at Amish Door, 1210 Winesburg St.
(US Rte. 62), Wilmot, OH 44689
What a great weekend we all had! The Inn at Amish Door was
the perfect place for our retreat. The ladies were so excited
about this location, that I have actually booked next year's retreat
already!! And not a minute too soon since there were only two
weekends left in September and October.
So mark your calendar now for the 2010 Buckeye Sewing Retreat,
which will be held September 17, 18, and 19 at the Inn
at Amish Door in Wilmot, OH. Here are some of
the comments from this year’s attendees; I think they say it
better than I can:
"I would travel to all four corners of Ohio to attend this
retreat. I have NEVER met more wonderful quilters!"
"This was my first retreat and I enjoyed it tremendously. I
think of myself as the least capable quilter but felt very comfortable
with everyone."
"Thank you for being so nice; I'm a first timer who will
definitely be back."
"I loved the facility! There was so much room and
the lighting was wonderful!"
"This place would be hard to beat!"

A Look Back
2008 Buckeye Sewing Retreat - October 31, November
1-2, 2008 at Charm
Countryview Inn, on Rt. 557 between Charm and Farmerstown,
Ohio in Holmes County. See how much fun we had and the beautiful,
serene, and nature-filled setting by
clicking here.
2007 Buckeye Sewing Retreat - What a great time we
had at our fourth annual Buckeye Sewing Retreat. It was a fun
and very talented group of ladies. We came from as far away
as Texas and Michigan, and all parts around Ohio. We got a
lot of projects finished, and a few new ones started. The most
frequent feedback was that the retreat wasn't long enough,
so I'd say we really enjoyed ourselves. It was held October
26-28, 2007 at the Hilton Garden Inn Columbus at Polaris, north
of Columbus and just west of I-71. Click
here to see photos of the 2007 Buckeye Sewing Retreat.
2006 - The 3rd Annual Buckeye Sewing Retreat was
held October 13-15, 2006 at Marblehead, Ohio. When we asked "What
did you like about this retreat?", we were delighted
with the responses...
- Meeting new people and seeing old friends.
- Time to share and learn new ideas, from the retreat staff
and other retreat members.
- Plenty of space to sew.
- Sewing all day, on whatever you want and getting projects
done.
- Jan and the Nautical Needle Quilt Shop.
- "The food was really good." "Food service
staff outstanding."
We were please when we asked "What did you like least
about the retreat?" and heard...
- "Going home at the end of the weekend."
- "That it is over!"

2005 - The 2nd Annual Buckeye Retreat was a
huge success. Everyone had such fun, even those of us who
were "working". When you love what you do, it's
tough to call it work. Check
out the 2005 pictures and see for yourself. One person
even commented, "I've had two-week vacations and have
never felt as rested and good about myself as I did after this
two-day retreat."
2004 - Our 1st Buckeye Sewing Retreat was held
on September 17-19, 2004 at Cherry Valley Lodge. Wow, what
a great weekend! We had 26 women from around Ohio and Indiana
who cut, sewed, ironed, laughed, ate, had lots of fun, and
even rooted the Buckeyes on to victory. There were a number
of mother/daughter duos, several groups of friends, one set
of sisters, and a number of individuals who came and made new
friends. See photos of
the 2004 Buckeye Sewing Retreat. |
